Coaching: A Step Forward

Publication date: 11 November 2024

Some fields of work require significant changes in personality, and coaching is one such discipline. Coaching is a profession that demands positive changes in the personality of those wishing to pursue it.

Why does one need to change?

There is certainly no need to change without a reason. The idea of change is linked to the nature of the work you undertake, particularly if that work is built upon the capabilities you exercise in your professional life. Importantly, you should recognise that people change through something else, and that people need to connect with those personalities and interact with them. The need for connection is built upon:
  • Effective dialogue
  • Objective discussion
  • Positive dialogue
  • Clear speech
  • Formulating the exchange of views
  • Good listening
All these means form part of the communication process that the coach needs to practise through the act of communication. However, the coach cannot do this unless they possess the skill that enables them to do so. Importantly, this skill must be built upon a personality capable of performing these roles effectively in people's lives, and these roles must be genuine rather than merely emotional or limited to certain individuals in the workplace.

The Coach as a Personality for Communication

Some are skilled at communicating in the manner described above, while others communicate merely adequately. The former can manage dialogue, which forms part of the coach's role, whereas the latter cannot manage the coach's work because they lack the essential skill.
