1 Purpose and basis
This document is available as CPQLTD internal policy within the institutional standards pack and is designed to align the CPQLTD ecosystem with ISO/IEC 17024 principles relevant to bodies certifying persons. Procedural and numeric provisions shown in this available edition are CPQLTD internal requirements. Their publication is not a claim of accreditation, certification or recognition by ISO/IEC or any other external body.
ISO/IEC 17024 rests on the idea of a documented “certification scheme” for each credential: its scope, requirements, competencies, assessment mechanism, surveillance and recertification, with a scheme owner and a review mechanism. The components of the CPQLTD-T scheme exist across the pack; this document consolidates them into a single formal specification linking CPQLTD-CRED, CPQLTD-COMP, CPQLTD-ASMT and CPQLTD-CPD.
2 Scheme components
Scope and purpose: the coaching roles covered by each tier.
Task and competency analysis: deriving competencies C01–C08 from actual practice requirements.
Prerequisites: qualifying education, practice hours, supervision and client experience.
Assessment mechanism: a knowledge and ethics assessment plus a performance assessment by recorded session or an approved alternative.
Surveillance: a renewed ethical commitment and random evidence audit whilst the credential is valid.
Recertification: a three-year cycle with continuing-development credits (CPQLTD-CPD).
Code of conduct: a binding ethics acknowledgement (CPQLTD-ETH).
3 Scheme specification per tier
| Tier | Prerequisites (ref. CPQLTD-CRED) | Assessment mechanism | Recertification |
|---|---|---|---|
| CPQLTD-T1 | Initial qualifying education, practice and supervision | Knowledge/ethics + basic performance | 3 years / 36 credits |
| CPQLTD-T2 | Broader education, practice and clients | Integrated performance across situations | 3 years / 36 credits |
| CPQLTD-T3 | Advanced practice and higher client experience | Performance in complex contexts | 3 years / 36 credits |
| CPQLTD-T4 | Substantial practice + teaching/mentoring | Performance + independent teaching assessment | 3 years / 36 credits |
4 Scheme owner and development
The owner of the certification scheme is the Credentialing & Assessment Committee. The scheme is built and updated by reference to an analysis of coaching tasks and stakeholder input, and the validity of its competencies is confirmed periodically through the research and survey loop (CPQLTD-RES and CPQLTD-SURV-INTL), so that requirements reflect actual market practice rather than impression alone.
