1 Purpose and basis

This document is available as CPQLTD internal policy within the institutional standards pack and is designed to align the CPQLTD ecosystem with ISO/IEC 17024 principles relevant to bodies certifying persons. Procedural and numeric provisions shown in this available edition are CPQLTD internal requirements. Their publication is not a claim of accreditation, certification or recognition by ISO/IEC or any other external body.

ISO/IEC 17024 requires the certification body to maintain adequate arrangements to cover the liabilities arising from its activities. This policy adds a complementary requirement that the credentialed practitioner hold appropriate professional indemnity insurance, protecting the client, the practitioner and the integrity of the credential.

2 CPQLTD’s commitment to cover its liabilities

CPQLTD maintains financial and insurance arrangements appropriate to the scale of its credentialing, assessment and education activities, ensuring the continuity of its operations and its ability to meet its obligations. The adequacy of these arrangements is reviewed within management review (CPQLTD-QMS §5).

3 Professional indemnity requirement for the credentialed practitioner

The credentialed practitioner is required (according to tier and type of practice) to hold valid professional indemnity insurance appropriate to their scope of work and the jurisdiction in which they deliver their service, with evidence provided at application and at every renewal.

ItemRequirement
Type of coverProfessional indemnity, and public liability where applicable
AdequacyInsured limits proportionate to the client type and jurisdiction
ValidityCover valid throughout the credentialed practice period
EvidenceA valid insurance document or certificate provided on request and at renewal
Special casesConsideration of retroactive or run-off cover where needed

4 Evidence and verification

The applicant attaches the insurance evidence within the credential application file (CPQLTD-CAPP).

The evidence is renewed with every credential renewal cycle (CPQLTD-CPD).

The evidence may be audited at random; providing false evidence is an ethical breach handled through CPQLTD-ECR.

5 Limits and liability

CPQLTD granting a credential to a practitioner does not transfer their professional liability to CPQLTD, nor does it make CPQLTD a party to their relationship with their client. Professional liability for the practice remains with the practitioner, and this limit is set out in the coaching agreement with the client.
