1 Purpose and basis

This document is available as CPQLTD internal policy within the institutional standards pack and is designed to align the CPQLTD ecosystem with ISO/IEC 17024 principles relevant to bodies certifying persons. Procedural and numeric provisions shown in this available edition are CPQLTD internal requirements. Their publication is not a claim of accreditation, certification or recognition by ISO/IEC or any other external body.

This document operationalises a principle repeated across the pack (CPQLTD-STD §5, CPQLTD-REG §4 and the Knowledge Centre) that prohibits any undocumented claim of external recognition or equivalence. It complements the institutional pillar (ISO/IEC 17024) with a layer of discipline that protects CPQLTD from over-claiming, and provides a single framework governing all external recognition, including CPD course accreditation and the international accreditations CPQLTD displays on its official pages.

2 Governing principles

Accuracy: only what is true and currently in force is displayed, not what is hoped for or expired.

Verifiability: each recognition has a known awarding body, a relationship, a scope and a validity period that can be proven.

Scope definition: what the recognition covers and does not cover is stated unambiguously.

No automatic equivalence: external recognition does not make the CPQLTD-T credential equivalent to another body’s credential, or vice versa.

Separation: a clear distinction is always drawn between CPQLTD’s own credential and the external recognition referred to.

3 Types of external recognition

TypeWhat it meansWhat it does not mean
Course/hours accreditation (CPD)That a specific course met a course-accreditation body’s standard and its hours are countedIt does not make CPQLTD a body certifying persons, nor is it equivalent to the CPQLTD-T credential
Membership/affiliationAffiliation of CPQLTD or its individuals to a professional network or bodyIt is not accreditation of programmes or persons
Third-party programme accreditationThat a specific programme was reviewed by an external body within a stated scopeIt does not automatically extend to the rest of CPQLTD’s programmes
Regulatory/government recognitionRecognition by an official body within a defined jurisdictionIt does not apply outside that jurisdiction

4 Acceptance criteria before display

Identifying the awarding body by its legal name and the means of verifying it.

Describing the nature of the relationship (accreditation / membership / partnership) precisely, without implying more.

Defining the scope covered (which course/programme/tier) and what is excluded.

The validity period and renewal date.

A documentary proof (certificate, number or verification link) kept in the register.

5 Wording and display controls

Accurate wording is required, and wording that implies broader recognition than reality is prohibited:

Prohibited in displaying any external recognition:

Describing CPQLTD as “internationally accredited” without stating the body, scope and means of verification.

Implying that CPD hours accreditation of a course is equivalent to the CPQLTD-T professional credential.

Using “equivalent to” or “recognised by” without separate documented evidence.

Generalising a recognition specific to one programme to all CPQLTD programmes.

Retaining a mark or recognition claim after its validity has ended.

Acceptable wording examples: “Course (X) is accredited for CPD hours by [body] within [scope], valid until [date]”; “CPQLTD is a member of [body]”, with a means of verification provided in each case.

6 External-recognition register

A register of external recognition is maintained and updated periodically; what may be available is available under the public-register policy (CPQLTD-REG), and any change is recorded in the version register (CPQLTD-POLREG). Register fields:
